The ReelGood Film Festival today announces a clutch of awards for nominated films at this year’s event, running this Saturday 22 April from 10am-8pm at the Lido Cinemas, Hawthorn.

The RGFF jury this comprised a list of some of Victoria’s most significant film personalities, including Alice Burgin (Head of Documentary, Sweetshop & Green), James Hewison (Co-Producer, Nitram and former Head of Film, ACMI), Marisa Nanakhorn-Brown (Development Coordinator, Tony Ayres Productions), Molly O’Connor (Producer, Film Camp), Kalu Oji (Director, The Moon and Me) and Jason Raftopoulos (Director, West of Sunshine).

More than half of the 22 films are nominated for awards, which will be announced by jury members & key award sponsors at 7.30pm on the evening. The prize offerings include –

Best On-Screen Talent

Nominees: Nan Chen (Idol), Joseph Limn (Gem), Meiko Kaji (Nezunoban), Chi Nguyen (Friends of Mine), Jillian Nguyen (TÂM), Babetida Sadjo (Ayaan),

Best Off-Screen Talent

Nominees: Bonita Carzino (Lime Parfait, cinematography), Karrabing Film Collective (Day in the Life, collective authorship), Michael Hough (Nezunoban, lighting) Delaney Murphy (The Sweetness, editing), Gian Paolo Lupori (Nezunoban, lighting), Pierre Oberkampf & Anonymous (Freedom Swimmer, sound design & original composition), Agnes Patron & Anonymous (Freedom Swimmer, animation), Jeremy Rouse (Ayaan, cinematography)

  • $500 cash prize supported by Blue Rock

Best Short Documentary

Nominees: Day in the Life (Karrabing Film Collective), Freedom Swimmer (Olivia Martin-McGuire), Onions (Emmy Clifton), The Sweetness (Jessica Barclay Lawton)

  • $5000 in-kind post-production equipment hire supported by Hummingbird Rentals

Audience Award

Best Short Film

Ari Harrison of Umbrella Entertainment and new production venture Sanctuary Pictures (a partnership with acclaimed SA. producer Julie Ryan), alongside the Umbrella team, will be on hand to present the Best Short Film award.
