SCREEN QUEENSLAND EXPANDS QUEENSLAND GAMES FESTIVAL WITH AUSTRALIA’S FIRST FORUM FOR STREAMERS, GAMES DEVELOPERS AND CONTENT CREATORS

Screen Queensland has today revealed the program for the inaugural Let’s Play Streamer Summit in association with Twitch and delivered with BRIGDA as part of this month’s Queensland Games Festival.

Running as an extension to the festival’s Framework industry day on Friday 26 June, the summit connects Queensland games developers with leading Twitch streamers from across Australia through panels, networking and the Devs vs Streamers: Super Smash Bros. competition.

The program continues on Saturday 27 June with the Queensland Games Festival Exhibition, where streamers have the opportunity to try some of the latest Queensland games in development and capture content through prepared streaming stations.

Screen Queensland’s Julie Eckersley, Executive Director of Screen Content said that the summit continues the state agency’s innovative approach to building Queensland’s games development and content creator sectors.

“Let’s Play Streamer Summit recognises the importance of discoverability for local games and helps forge the bridges between the creatives and communities that play, share and connect through digital games.

“As the first state screen agency with a dedicated online program and one of Australia’s most competitive digital games offerings, Queensland is perfectly positioned to launch the first national summit for streamers, where developers and creators collide,” Ms Eckersley said.

Twitch’s Lewis Mitchell, APAC Content Director said “Twitch is excited to be part of the Let’s Play Streamer Summit which serves as a unique opportunity to connect with creators and support the local gaming industry.

“Twitch is the home of livestreaming and we look forward to bringing creators and industry together in person to celebrate the continued growth of streaming culture across Queensland and Australia more broadly.”

The Let’s Play Streamer Summit is a highly specialised program for streamers and games developers with a limited attendance capacity. Panellists will be revealed closer to the event.

Expressions of interest are now open via Screen Queensland’s website to attend. Attendees will also have access to the full Framework program.

Queensland Games Festival is proudly supported by Screen Queensland’s Screen Culture Fund.
