HOYTS has unveiled the future of cinema with the launch of HOYTS APEX at HOYTS Karrinyup, introducing the world’s largest LED cinema screen and setting a new standard for premium viewing experiences.
Now open, Perth is home to this revolutionary cinema offering, delivering a more immersive and lifelike way to experience movies, bringing audiences closer to the story than ever before.
At nearly 25 metres wide and powered by more than 24 million pixels, HOYTS APEX combines scale with precision. Its fully acoustically transparent LED display allows sound to pass directly through the screen, aligning perfectly with on-screen action to create a seamless, true-to-source audio-visual experience.
HOYTS Group CEO and President Damian Keogh said the launch reinforces HOYTS’ position at the forefront of cinema innovation.
“HOYTS APEX represents a defining moment for HOYTS and for cinema more broadly, setting a new standard for what the big screen experience can be,” Damian said.
“At HOYTS Karrinyup, we are proud to introduce the world’s largest LED cinema screen. The scale is breathtaking, but what truly sets HOYTS APEX apart is how seamlessly the technology comes together.
“Dolby Atmos surround sound combined with exceptional visuals that deliver a sharper, deeper and more lifelike image, pulls audiences deeper into the movie.”
Unlike traditional projection, HOYTS APEX uses direct-view LED technology to deliver significantly higher brightness, deeper blacks and exceptional contrast, resulting in more vivid, lifelike images across every scene.
HOYTS Cinema Technology Group IT Director Adam Wrightson said HOYTS APEX has been engineered to deliver a consistently premium experience across the entire auditorium.
“HOYTS APEX marks a new era for cinema, delivering what is simply the most advanced big screen experience available today,” Adam said.
“The LED screen is fully acoustically transparent, allowing sound to pass directly through the movie. This means audio is placed exactly where it should be — on screen — delivering a level of precision and immersion audiences haven’t experienced before.
“At Karrinyup, on a screen of this size, the experience is completely immersive, with every detail of the story amplified by its scale.”
Measuring 24.9 metres by 10.8 metres, the HOYTS APEX screen at Karrinyup is the largest indoor LED cinema screen in the world, positioning the location as a flagship destination for cinema globally.
HOYTS APEX also signals the next phase of HOYTS’ premium strategy, delivering an experience that extends beyond traditional film exhibition. Built for the future, the platform is designed to support evolving content formats, including live events and next-generation cinematic experiences.
With HOYTS APEX, HOYTS continues its long-standing legacy of pushing the boundaries of cinema, delivering experiences that cannot be replicated at home.
