The first will be a pair of expanded cinema performances on Sunday June 9th, the second a screening of new work made by Dogmilk members on Sunday June 16th.
The expanded cinema program will present two live audio-visual performances that reach beyond and deconstruct the parameters of the cinema screen. The first performance reprises Sofie McClure’s ‘Tidelines’ [pictured], a collaboration with sound artist Bridget Chappell (Hextape) and dancers Anika Deruyter & Maddy Bowman. Screens become dancing partners and the dancers extensions of the screen. Controlled by ropes, the mobile screens call upon the audience to trace their own path, through and behind the image. Rocks become cameras as ropes become limbs. ‘Tidelines’ exposes a world of animate forms, where encounters between human and non-human bodies invoke new forms of action and movement. Then, bi-coastal filmmaking duo Garden Reflexxx will present ‘Tourists Kill’, a movie about camera babysitting. Meeting on a nude beach and dying on a highway, weaving in and out of their own deleted scenes we will talk about planning, pronoia and conception. A short workshop, film and discourse on how the camera can also be a baby.
