Ten years in the making. Hundreds of visual effects. One wildly ambitious dream.

After a decade in the making, the fully independent science fiction feature SPACE/TIME will land in select Australian cinemas this May, with cast and crew in attendance for exclusive Q&A screenings.

Tickets are on sale now at www.spacetimemovie.com

Directed by Michael O’Halloran and co-written with Adam Harmer, SPACE/TIME tells the story of a group of scientists developing an engine for interstellar travel. When a breakthrough leads to a fatal disaster, their project is shut down – and the disgraced team must turn to the criminal underworld to continue their work on a space-time device that could alter the course of history and the future of humanity.

Produced by Mohworks Films, the film stars Ashlee Lollback, Hugh Parker, and Pacharo Mzembe, and blends modern sci-fi filmmaking with classic storytelling. Described as Breaking Bad meets Back to the Future, the film balances high-concept ideas with a character-driven narrative, aiming to engage both sci-fi devotees and casual viewers alike.

SPACE/TIME was produced by O’Halloran, Harmer, and Jai Hogg, and marks the first feature film for many of the core creative team, including VFX artist Justin Leggereit and composer Adrian Diery. Despite its modest budget, the production features over 800 visual effects shots, completed primarily by Leggereit. The film’s sweeping orchestral score was performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

O’Halloran, who grew up in Queensland making movies with school friends and teachers (many of whom appear in cameos throughout the film), studied film in Brisbane – and that’s where he met Adam Harmer. The two hit it off immediately, bonded by a shared love of filmmaking, and have been collaborating ever since.

For O’Halloran, this film is the culmination of a lifelong dream. It’s not just a story about bending space and time – it’s about not waiting for permission to make your movie. It’s about backing yourself, and chasing the thing that matters most.

The film is being distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Umbrella Entertainment, and will be available to watch at home later this year.

Each screening of SPACE/TIME will feature a live Q&A with the cast and crew, offering audiences a chance to hear firsthand about the film’s journey from idea to screen.
