Peyton List Strikes First In American Boogeywoman

After going close to full-psycho in Cobra Kai, Peyton List will now go all the way as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in American Boogeywoman.

Though she has a history of family friendly fare like Swimming For Gold and Disney’s Bunk’d, talented young actress Peyton List is now best known for bringing the roundhouse kicks and bad attitude in the Netflix Karate Kid revival Cobra Kai. She really brought it in the show’s third season, and is now set to dive even further into her dark side as a performer by taking on the lead role in the new thriller American Boogeywoman, which will detail the early life of notorious serial killer Aileen Wuornos. The real life figure was, of course, most famously portrayed by an Oscar winning Charlize Theron in the searing Monster, from eventual Wonder Woman director, Patty Jenkins. “We know so little of the early years of Aileen, especially given that she was living a very different life to the one we see in Monster,” says Peyton List. “Embodying such a deeply complex and divisive character is what drew me to the project, and I can’t wait to bring context to America’s most infamous female serial killer.”

American Boogeywoman will be directed by horror regular Daniel Farrands (Amityville: The Awakening, The Amityville Murders, The Haunting Of Sharon Tate, The Murder Of Nicole Brown Simpson) and will follow Aileen Wuornos’ early life in 1976, when she marries an older wealthy yacht club president, only to inflict mayhem within her new family and Florida’s high society. “We know about Aileen Wuornos’ infamous killing spree as seen in Monster, but what we don’t know are the details from her early life and the build-up of events that drove her to commit such horrific crimes,” says the film’s producer Lucas Jarach. “We look forward to bringing a new perspective to this incredible true story that has so much more to give audiences around the globe.”
