“I’m the black sheep,” says Otis Dhanji when we ask him whether acting is in his blood. Instead, Otis’s route to the screen happened after doing acting classes from a young age and eventually asking his teacher if he can try for some professional work.
“Aquaman was a fantastic experience!” says the young actor of his work in the blockbuster shot on the Gold Coast. “One of the best times of my life. Getting to know the broad world of the film industry and watching everyone piece together a film was eye-opening. Meeting Jason [Momoa] was fun too! He’s a giant with a lot of character.”
Otis can be seen briefly on the small screen in SBS’ On the Ropes, and is currently shooting ABC TV series The Unlisted for Aquarius Films and the feature film June Again from See Pictures. “I play Piers, who is Devon’s (Stephen Curry) son,” he says of June Again. “Noni Hazlehurst plays June, Devon’s mother, who experiences a medical miracle and returns to her estranged family to bring them together.”
And what does the future hold? “I love acting and definitely want to pursue it, however, I would love to have a go at directing and writing in conjunction with acting.”
