Here, start the day with something wonderful – His Excellency General, the Honourable David Hurley, Governor of NSW, has accepted the post of Vice Regal General of Bus Stop Films.
In case you missed it, Bus Stop Films specialises in making film tuition accessible for students from marginalised backgrounds, particularly those with intellectual disabilities. They’ve been at it since 2009, with strong support from AFTRS, and are currently running three courses with a total of 40 intellectually disabled students, in addition to a host of other activities, workshops and support schemes.
The short film, directed by Genevieve Clay-Smith, Co-Founder and CEO of Bus Stop Films, stars His Excellency himself, plus Tropfest Film Festival’s Best Male Actor (2009), Bus Stop Films student and ambassador, Gerard O’Dwyer, recently seen in Red Christmas. O’Dwyer interviews His Excellency, with the topics ranging from favourite desserts to the importance of the Vice Regal Patron role.
“His Excellency accepting the role of Bus Stop Films Vice Regal Patron is a great achievement for Bus Stop Films,” said Clay-Smith. “This accomplishment showcases to Australia what we are doing here is important, and it further validates our work. This short film is a way to celebrate the Governor becoming Vice Regal Patron for Bus Stop Films. We wanted to showcase Gerard and the Governor’s wonderful rapport, and discuss what this role means for all of us.”
