As expected, Warner/DC debuted a Justice League trailer of sorts at their Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic Con, and it soon made its way into the wilds of the internet via way of director Zac Snyder’s Twitter.

The most noticeable thing here is the tone, which is several degrees lighter than its much-maligned predecessor, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. There are jokes! Actual jokes! And Batman makes some of them!

The cast looks great. We knew Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman worked terrifically well, but how cool is Jason Momoa’s booze-swilling, wave-defying Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s goofy, joking Flash? The latter is a particularly hard sell (Grant Gustin is right there, for crying out loud) but Miller’s bringing a very fun kind of energy to the role – the moment where he recognises the batarang and what it means is priceless.

The character who gets the least amount of time here is Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and he’s the one who is probably less well known to the wider, non-comic reading/cartoon watching audience. Cyborg only recently got upgraded to Justice League status in the comics as part of DC’s (awful, Jesus-what-were-they-thinking) New 52 reboot. Prior to that he was a mainstay of the Teen Titans, who got a couple of decent animated series, bringing them to a wider, but not necessarily mainstream, audience.

The clip is light on plot – we get a shot of a Mother Box being buried and that’s about it – but even after the mess that was BvS, it’s hard not to get pumped for this. And let’s face it, the cast shot looks great:
