There’s a chance, we guess, that Monster Trucks is simply in the hands of a terrible marketing team, and that the actual film is much better than the first two trailers make it look. It’s doubtful, but stranger things have happened.
However, given it boasts a high concept/title that sounds like it was found scrawled on cocaine-infused boardroom table that’d been sealed in a vault since 1992, is in the hands of a director making his first live action film (Mark Wedge, who directed Ice Age), and stars MacGyver-ruiner Lucas Till, we’re betting that this is not going to be one of the new year’s better offerings. Even the normally numinous Jane Levy can’t elevate the proceedings – she just looks embarrassed to be here.
Monster Trucks rolls into Australian cinemas on January 12, 2017. And rolls out of them a week later, we expect.
