There are many reasons to be excited for Annihilation, the adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s acclaimed novel from Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Sunshine), not least of which is that it boasts a largely female cast – aside from OScar Isaac, who plays Portman’s missing husband, the principal characters are all women.
In this new featurette, the female cast – Portman, Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, and Tuva Novotny – expound on what an exciting and unusual prospect this is.
