With the school holidays on our doorstep there’s no stopping Beauty and the Beast, and it’s interesting to note The Boss Baby increasing screen numbers and leaping ahead of both Ghost in the Shell and The LEGO Batman Movie since the weekend. Watch the latter grow over the next two or so weeks as every boy, girl and their dad heads to the cinemas. Or will they check Smurfs, Power Rangers, Beauty and the Beast, this week’s release Dance Academy or A Silent Voice? There’s plenty of choice, that’s for sure!
LIMITED RELEASE
Chinese/US film, The Devotion of Suspect X opened strong out of nowhere. Based on a Japanese crime novel, don’t be surprised to see more Japanese genre fare to release in our cinemas by enterprising independent distributors, alongside the already popular Korean and Chinese fare targetting a hungry native audience. And Palace have done it again, opening strongly with the challenging but highly acclaimed Danish Oscar nominee Land of Mine, which will probably appear on this list for the next 3 months.
