“As a director, Screaming Peak presents the exciting opportunity to make the kind of distinctive and meticulously crafted film that has inspired me ever since I became a filmmaker. One that immerses the audience inside the main character’s points of view to create a visceral, terrifying and unforgettable cinema experience,” says Kriv Stenders in a statement.

Written by Justin Walsh (Neighbours), Screaming Peak is the story of a wealthy family, visited by a young woman claiming to be the father’s daughter. Escaping to a secluded island retreat to sort out the complicated situation, the family are soon witness to a murder and pursued by the killers.

“I read a lot of scripts in my job, often on a plane to somewhere. On a flight to Sydney from Melbourne I got to the last 10 pages when I heard, ‘Excuse me ma’am, but you really need to get off the plane’. I had to wait 5 hours before I could see how it ended and it was all I could think about,” said Louise Schultze of Australian Production House, which has secured the rights to the script.

“It is an absolute page turner. Due to Justin’s craft, I could see this island, every character, and I could feel my heart pumping as he took me on that family’s journey.

‘This film is going to be a psychological thriller shot to a tight script with a small cast. While at least 70 percent of the talent will be Australian, there will be some international casting involved which will help give this global appeal,” says Schultze.
