Ken Jeong heading to Australia to shoot Occupation sequel

September 19, 2018
One of the cast of monster hits Crazy Rich Asians and The Hangover Trilogy has joined the ensemble on Luke Sparke's Occupation: Rainfall.

Those highly ambitious Queensland based genre filmmakers behind Red Billabong and this year’s Occupation, have signed funnyman Ken Jeong to star in sci-fi epic sequel Occupation: Rainfall.

According to co-writer/director/producer Luke Sparke, “We’re building a whole new world with Occupation: Rainfall and to have Ken join the film alongside our awesome returning cast members is mind blowing. I’ve admired his work and his successes for years and can’t wait to see what brings to the project when he arrives here to shoot in October.”

Touching down in October, Jeong will join returning cast Dan Ewing, Temuera Morrison, Stephany Jacobsen, Aaron Jeffery, Zac Garred, Izzy Stephens and Trystan Go (perhaps somehow related to Jeong’s character – just spitballing).

According to the press release, the sequel ‘picks up two years into the intergalactic invasion of earth, survivors in Sydney fight back in a desperate ground war. As causalities mount by the day, the resistance and their unexpected allies, uncover a plot that could see the war come to a decisive end. With the Alien invaders hell-bent on making earth their new home, the race is on to save mankind.’

Other new cast announced include Lawrence Makoare (Marco Polo), Vince Colosimo and Tamala Shelton (Cleverman).

In the meantime, if you missed Occupation during its brief run in the cinemas, be sure to check it out digitally next week or on DVD and Blu-ray from October 3, 2018.
