The 31st Greek Film Festival has released an exciting program of films and film events for its full program for the Sydney and Melbourne seasons.
Presented by the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW and the Greek Community of Melbourne, the Festival will run in Sydney and Melbourne from 13 -25 October across multiple Palace cinema screens and will then go on to play in other Australia capitals in the weeks that follow (more details to come).
The program features close to 50 titles that celebrate Greek stories and storytellers and present an industry that is compelling and engaging.
The Festival kicks off its jam-packed program in Sydney and Melbourne on Tuesday 13 October with the Konstantinos Mousoulis’ smash hit comedy, Best Friends Forever, a warm-hearted contemporary Greek comedy written and directed by Konstantinos Mousoulis and featuring a stellar cast that also includes Australian actor Louis Mandylor.
The 2026 Festival Program features contemporary releases, compelling documentaries that cover everything from the heartwarming Acropolis Cats and Other Wondrous Animals and the most famous hedonistic Mykonos club, comedies, the much anticipated story of Saint Paisios, the weaving of ancient worlds and the pursuit of love from American Greek filmmaker Michael A Nyckles in A Spartan Dream [pictured],action packed dramas and special screenings of Kapodistrias.
For over 30 years, the Festival has celebrated Greek stories and storytelling on film and its 2026 iteration speaks of a cinematic industry that remains compelling to Australian audiences and as the popularity of the Festival continues to grow, organisers will present the festival on more Australian screens than ever before.
In Sydney the Festival will play at the much-loved Palace Norton Street cinemas and at the popular Moore Park complex.
In Melbourne, the Festival will screen across 7 Cinemas including Palace Pentridge, Palace Como, Palace Balwyn, Palace Penny Lane (Moonee Ponds), Palace Westgarth, Kino cinemas (City) and the iconic Astor Theatre in St Kilda.
