J.J. Abrams Produced Series To Hit Stan

January 20, 2016
The series adapted from a Stephen King novel will star James Franco and Aussie talent on the rise, Lucy Fry.

In the battle of the streaming services and hot property television, Stan has announced that it has netted the rights for 11.22.63, and will host its Australian premiere on February 16, within hours of its US debut.

Based on Stephen King’s best-selling 2011 novel of the same name and produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, the series stars James Franco as a high school teacher who is presented with the unthinkable mission of travelling back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

Franco will be joined by two Australian stars in Lucy Fry, who recently starred in the Australian comedy Now Add Honey and will headline the Stan Original Series Wolf Creek and Home and Away star, Daniel Webber. They will also be joined by veteran Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel (Transformers) and Sarah Gordon (A Royal Night Out).

If the executive producing talent is anything to go by, this series is definitely something to get excited about. Along with J.J. “Star Wars” Abrams and Stephen King, the producing talent includes Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland), Bridget Carpenter (The Red Road, Parenthood, Friday Night Lights) and Bryan Burk (Star Wars:  The Force Awakens).
