Oh man, we could not be happier: Community’s Donald Glover is going to play gambler and conman Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Lord & Miller Han Solo movie. How official is it? It’s straight from StarWars.com.
Glover, in what must surely be a dream come true for the proud nerd, will join Alden Ehrenreich in the film, which chronicles the early adventures of everyone’s favourite pirate, smuggler and scoundrel. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who gave us the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Jump Street movies, as well as The Lego Movie, will direct from a script by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan.
Lord and Miller marked the announcement with a statement, saying:
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
