Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey’s Icon Productions have acquired the rights to The Crossraod, the autobiography of Australian SAS trooper and Victoria Cross winner, Mark Donaldson.

Donaldson won the VC in 2009 for action in Afghanistan in 2008, rescuing a wounded interpreter while under heavy fire from Taliban insurgents. Donaldson’s book traces his life up to and after that point, documenting his rebellious youth and his military career.  The Crossroad won ABIA Biography of the Year and was heralded as “One of the most impressive memoirs published by a serving member of the Australian military.” by The Weekend Australian.

No announcements have been made as to director or cast as yet, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
