Goalpost Films’ Holding the Man is now reaching a bigger audience than ever before, having been released in every Netflix territory (bar, ironically enough, Australia and New Zealand) on August 1.

The film has also been sold into a number of territories for theatrical release, including the US, UK, Germany and Switzerland, and Benelux.

Producer of the film, Goalpost Pictures Australia’s Kylie du Fresne, said  “The film has captured the hearts of audiences wherever it has screened and I am absolutely delighted that people around the world will now be able to share in the experience.”

Based on Timothy Conigrave’s memoir of the same name, Holding the Man stars Ryan Corr, Craig Stott, Anthony LaPaglia, Guy Pearce, Kerry Fox and Camilla Ah Kin. It charts the love story between Conigrave (Corr) and John Caleo (Stott) from their high school days to Caleo’s death from AIDS in 1992.
