Etan Cohen (Get Hard) will direct Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Holmes and Watson, a presumably comedic take on the classic mysteries by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Ferrell will essay the famous villain-playing, cocaine-sampling detective, while Reilly will take up the role of his doughty sidekick. And that’s pretty much all we know at this point.

This isn’t the first time someone’s taken a comedic look at Baker Street, of course – the great Billy Wilder had a crack in 1970 with The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, while the high water mark is unarguably 1988’s Without A Clue, which saw Michael Caine as a drunken stage actor hired to play Sherlock Holmes by Ben Kingsley’s Dr Watson, with Watson doing the actual sleuthing. You also get Paul “Beloq” Freeman as Moriarty for added value. Still, given the tenor of Get Hard, we can probably expect more gay panic in this one.
