“It’s a film of great intensity…” ‐ David Stratton, The Australian
Directed by Australian filmmaker, Michael Rowe (who won the Camera d’Or for best first time feature film director at The Cannes Film Festival with his bracing 2010 effort, Leap Year), Early Winter follows David (Paul Doucet), a man in his forties, who lives a predictable life with his wife Maya (Suzanne Clement) and their two children. To please his wife with the latest gadgets, he works solitary shift work, days and nights, as a janitor in a retirement home. But when he begins to suspect that Maya is having an affair, David starts to lose ground, and his past threatens to smash everything in his path. A tough, cogent drama, Early Winter is the work of one of this country’s most underrated filmmakers. Michael Rowe will be back in Australia for a very special FilmInk Presents programme of screenings, each of which will be followed by a Q&A session.
