With movies like Spotlight, regardless of their quality, we can kind of distance ourselves from the events they depict – for Australian audiences, Boston might as well be Mars. However, Tori Garrett’s upcoming film, Don’t Tell, positions the issue of endemic, institutionalised sexual abuse right in our own back yard, making all the more powerful and troubling.
Based on true events, Don’t Tell sees Sara West’s abuse survivor team up with Aden Young’s driven lawyer to seek justice for the crimes committed against her in childhood. An incredible ensemble rounds out the cast, including Rachel Griffiths, Jacqueline McKenzie, Susie Porter, Jack Thompson, Martin Sacks and Robert Taylor.
Don’t Tell will be in Australian cinemas later this year.
