Remember way back in the day when the first X-Men movie came out (that was in 2000 – feeling old?) and we got our very first glimpse of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine as he disassembled some poor Canuck in a backroom cage fight? Well, it seems Bryan Singer and crew want to rekindle some of that old magic in this new clip.
What can we tell from this? Well, it’s clear that some of the action takes place in Mittel-Europe (probably Germany, but we could be wrong), it’s clear that Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique is an even more experienced clandestine operator than before (although why a shapeshifter uses her own face when pulling these kinds of actions is beyond us), and it’s clear that the X-Men movies’ continuity no longer makes even the slightest lick of sense; how these iterations of Angel (Ben Hardy) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) jibe with those played by Ben Foster and Alan Cumming is mystery for the ages. If impossible to follow continuity is a metric, these are the most screen-accurate comics adaptations of all time.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits Australian cinemas on May 19.
