The program for CinefestOZ 2016 dropped today, revealing a typically diverse list of films, guests and events for the Busselton-based film festival.
82 films are screening this year, including 15 Australian premieres. Four films – The Death and Life of Otto Bloom, Jasper Jones, Girl Asleep and Spin Out – are in competition for the $100,000 CinefestOZ Film Prize. Additionally, some 68 venues across Busselton, Bunbury and Margaret River will host screenings, workshops, sidebars and events.
Guests this year include noted director Gillian Armstrong, who serves as Jury Chair, comedian and writer Ben Elton, comedian Tim Ferguson, actress, director and writer Matilda Brown, actor and writer Matthew Whittet, and actress and comedian Magda Szubanski.
“This year’s program is of an exceptionally high quality,” said Festival CEO Malinda Nixon. “It’s a delight every year to hear the audience’s stories about the films they are discovering and sharing those discoveries with their friends. Exploring the program and the stunning South West region simultaneously ensures Festival-goers have a uniquely self-tailored journey and there really is something for everyone.”
CinefestOZ runs from August 24 – August 28. For the full program, head over to the official site.
