Cinemas will be celebrating a very healthy opening weekend for the Wonka musical, which should carry it across until Boxing Day. The year's strongest release date, traditionally, Boxing Day isn't looking crash hot right now, with a couple of family animations (Wish, Migration), a broad French female comedy (Two Tickets to Greece), Oscar bait (One Life), Woody Allen (Coup De Chance), a RomCom (Anyone But You) and an underwhelming superhero sequel (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) battling it out for top spot ... which may end up going to Wonka if word of mouth works its magic.
