Do you ever feel like Australian films are released in cinemas in a form of neo-liberalism? You know, trickle down economics which both sides of politics believe in, swearing that all the money that Gina Rinehart and Twiggy Forrest make will ultimately trickle down to us peasants? Did someone say capitalist propaganda BS? Well, this weekend’s (and every other weekend) box office charts prove this point, with the sort of money brought in by the likes of Beetlejuice, Deadpool, Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4 and It Ends With Us truly dwarfing what Australian films are earning in cinemas. And what does all that money made by US studios and corporations bring the Australian film industry? Great bloody question!
