Who saw the crap take by someone in Hollywood claiming that Zootopia 2‘s success is the death knell for cinemas, because it’s not a good film, but earning bank due to a lack of quality films on offer. Puhlease! Opinions are like arseholes, everyone’s got one. And, nobody knows anything, as one Mr William Goldman once said. As Hollywood panics about Netflix purchasing Warner Bros., we don’t have any intel as to how Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery performed in cinemas, but truth be told, now that we have seen Noah Baumbauch’s Jay Kelly, streaming really is where that film belongs. As everything in entertainment becomes as clear as mud, once thing holds true, which is, when a cinema backs a film, it tends to perform far better. We’re perpetually disappointed with the performance of Australian films, but Pellegrinis, a tiny, very specific doco which is playing at Palace Cinemas, who have backed it through their own marketing channels, and look at that, it tops the Australian chart, following very soon after Signorinella did the same thing. As people continue to whinge about the quality of Australian films being the reason for their lacklustre numbers, we beg to differ…
