The accumulative box office dropped substantially this weekend (around 30% compared to last), but one film benefited from world events, specifically Conclave, which increased its take despite showing on less screens. Meanwhile, new films The Last Showgirl and Andrea Arnold’s Bird, both certain breakout hits on the arthouse circuit a few years ago, didn’t have anyone related to the subject of the film on the brink of death, so underperformed significantly. Amen!
