Slay! Another week, another surprise monster hit, this time anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, which earnt an impressive $11.5k screen average on more than 357 screens. The result is particularly impressive considering that anime rarely reaches these sorts of peaks in Australia; no wonder Sony purchased Crunchyroll. Also great to see Weapons crossing the magic $10m mark! Other week 1 releases didn’t fare very well, with the final Downton Abbey instalment no match for last week’s Conjuring climax. On the Australian front, we forgot to include But Also John Clarke last week, which retains top spot, whilst Kangaroo Island approaches the magic $500k mark and Lesbian Space Princess is DOA, but should play well in select arthouse screens for a number of weeks.
