Cinemagoing does not stop as the annual Movie Convention kicks off on the Gold Coast, with all of Australia’s cinema operators and film distributors in attendance, along with local filmmakers all trying to solve the multi-million dollars Australian films’ dwindling returns question. This weekend, Regretting You did the trick for young female audiences, while Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc tickled pubescent young men, and Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere couldn’t quite emulate the success of the album that inspired it, and the re-release of 2012’s ParaNorman and 2005’s Initial D played to the nostalgia bug that seems to have bitten the public nowadays.
