Universal Pictures has announced that horror honcho Jason Blum, producer of Get Out, Split, the Purge flicks, and many more, is inbound to pimp the latest thriller from the Blumhouse stable, Happy Death Day.
As the synopis tells us, “Happy Death Day tells the story of Tree (Jessica Rothe, La La Land) a college student who relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.”
It is, of course, just the latest low budget, high concept horror from Blumhouse, who have mastered a model that emphasises creative freedom within tight production guidelines, enabling filmmakers such as Jordan Peele, M. Night Shyamalan, and more to create incredible films (and crush box office records), starting back when the $15,000 Paranormal Activity took $200 million worldwide.
Blum will hit Melbourne on September 26 and Sydney on September 27, with screening details to be announced. So print out those screenplays, kids – this is your shot!
