Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn was acknowledged for his work in the Netflix series, Bloodline, at the 68th Emmy Awards. Mendelsohn took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Danny Rayburn, the drug-dealing black sheep of the family, in the acclaimed drama.
This is Mendelsohn’s second nomination for the role. Ironically, he won for his work in a season where his character is already dead (he appears in flashbacks and visions); still, considering he beat out fellow nominees Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul) and Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), more than half he field was composed of actors playing characters who are either dead or thought to be (the remaining two nominees were Peter Dinklange for Game of Thrones and Jon Voight for Ray Donovan).
The third and final season of Bloodline is expected in the first half of 2017.
