Filming has wrapped in Serbia on You Won’t Be Alone, with Focus Features acquiring worldwide rights.

You Won’t Be Alone is a very special project by a very special and talented filmmaker and we’re so proud and excited to be producing Goran Stolevski’s debut feature film,” said producers Kristina Ceyton and Sam Jennings of Causeway Films. “And to be collaborating with Focus Features and, for the third time, with Bankside Films, to bring this story to life and out into the world. Making a film amidst a pandemic has certainly been challenging, but with such supportive financiers in Screen Australia and Film Victoria, our post partner KOJO Studios, Head Gear Films, and the dedication of our amazingly committed international cast and the incredible crew here in Serbia, we feel very grateful.”

You Won’t Be Alone is set in a 19th century Macedonian village, where a young witch accidentally kills a peasant and then takes her shape. Curious about humans, she proceeds to explore what it’s like to experience life inside the bodies of others.

Sounds like the seed of a gruesome fairy tale.

Writer-director Goran Stolevski’s short film Would You Look At Her won Best International Short at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. In You Won’t Be Alonehe reunites with that film’s star, Macedonian actress Sara Klimoska. Other cast include Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, Romanian Anamaria Marinca (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days), Australian actress Alice Englert (Ratched, Top of the Lake: China Girl), Portuguese actor Carloto Cotta (Tabu) and France’s Félix Maritaud (BPM: Beats Per Minute).
