The Australian independent feature film Sacred Heart will make its public debut at the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Written and directed by Kosta Nikas and starring David Field, Kipan Rothbury and Lizzie Schebesta, Sacred Heart follows the travails of a man of faith who rejects God after his pregnant wife’s death, and goes on to challenge the Devil himself. Sure to court controversy, the film tackles such issues as abortion, celibacy in the clergy, the sanctity of confession and more.

Star, David Field, observed, “What attracted me to the project was the script and the approach of the writer director. Kosta had an imaginative way to extract the central themes. It was compelling from start to end and as with all great scripts kept me guessing until the end. Also the moral and religious arguments in the film are refreshing, with characters beautifully drawn in a clear and imaginative way.”

No Australian release date has been set as of yet, but more info can be found at the SIFF official site.
