We already knew that Allied was going to be a beautiful looking film, and one that seemed – from the teaser at least – soaked in Old Hollywood glamour. Now the first full trailer demonstrates an intriguing emotional hook as well.
Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are World War II-era Allied agents who fall in love while doing dirty deeds in North Africa and return to London for a life of domesticity. All is well and good (apart from, you know, the Blitz) until Pitt’s character gets world that his beloved wife may be a Nazi spy. It’s love versus loyalty, patriotism versus perfidy, set against a truly impressive-looking historical backdrop, as Pitt must uncover the truth and make some hard, potential fatal, choices.
Expect Allied in cinemas on Boxing Day.
