Noted Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei will be in Sydney for the release of his refugee documentary, Human Flow, which hits cinemas on March 15, 2018.
Weiwei will actually be in town to participate in the 21st Biennale of Sydney, where he is presenting his artwork Law of the Journey, a 70 metre suspended inflatable rubber raft with figures, which will be on display at Cockatoo Island from March 16 until 11 June 11.
Filmed over the course of a year in 23 countries, Human Flow is a deep dive into the plight of the over 65 million refugees and displaced persons currently doing it tough around the world. Distributor Roadshow Films describes the work as “…an epic film journey led by the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei, gives a powerful visual expression to this massive human migration. The documentary elucidates both the staggering scale of the refugee crisis and its profoundly personal human impact.”
