Business mogul or film buff?
Whether you’re a giant tycoon in business and finance, a spare-time-trader, or just a regular film buff interested in the intrigues of the investment world, here is 10 movies you should watch this December:
- The Big Short (2015) With a star-studded cast list, who all act their pants off, it centers around the true story of how the 2007-2008 financial crisis was triggered by the United States real estate bubble in 2007.
- Inside Job (2010) An amazing and interesting documentary, also revolving around the late 2000’s financial crisis, which explores how we got there through Iceland’s privatisation of banks among other things.
- Trading Places (1983) A comedy starring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd, this movie is a bit lighter than the others on this list. A businessman and a con artist get to explore how they would do if their lives were reversed.
- It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) A true Christmas classic. While this movie is not directly about the inner workings of financial exploits, it is about a businessman realising how wonderful his life is by being shown how the world would be without him in it.
- The Bank (2001) Australian flick revolves around a mathematician who creates a formula to predict the fluctuations of the stock market. He joins a CEO of a bank and must prove his loyalty to the “greed is good” mentality that the CEO is working under.
