This is such good news, team. James Mangold, director of The Wolverine, Logan, 3.10 to Yuma and Walk the Line, has signed on with Lucasfilm to write and direct the mooted Star Wars Boba Fett movie. Which means – mark our words – it’ll be a goddamn Western. Heck yes.
Now, there is no actual statement indicating such – in fact there’s no further information other than “Mangold’s doing it” – but let’s face it – there’s a lot of Western DNA in Star Wars (just look at Solo), Mangold’s made two great Westerns (Logan is just Unforgiven with mutants), and if you’re going to do a movie about frickin’ bounty hunters in the Star Wars Universe, hell, it’d probably look a lot like this:
…but with spaceships and whatnot. We vote for IG-88 as the Bad and Dengar as the Ugly.
