“The easy thing is to keep your head down and let the bullies run amok,” Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling tweeted about the election of Donald J. Trump as the next US President. “The right thing to do is to challenge racism, misogyny and hatred.” Proving that it’s not just Americans who have a stake in who runs their country, Rowling’s comments are heartfelt and sincere, and they also echo the sentiments of Hollywood’s elite.

Many big names hit Twitter to make their emotions public upon the announcement of Trump’s victory, and while some were winsome (“Anyone wanna build a snowman,” posted Kristen Bell, while Olaf himself, Josh Gad, admitted, “I never thought I’d say this, but boy, do I miss George W. Bush right now”; Ben Stiller merely said, “Weird dream”), others were far more derisive. “Donald Trump has given me, who is 94, the deep desire & will to live to 98 so I can vote for whoever runs against him,” said director, Carl Reiner. Captain America himself, Chris Evans, made it clear that he wasn’t happy about who was chosen to make America great again. “This is an embarrassing night for America,” he said. “We’ve let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We’ve let a bully set our course. I’m devastated.”

Funny man, Will Arnett, believed that it was obviously not a time for humour. “How do we explain this to future generations of women?” he asked. “And minorities?” Patton Oswalt, however, did see the funny side of things…sort of. “Driving to Barstow and paying a trucker to punch me unconscious,” he said. Seth MacFarlane also saw the upside (“At least pot’s legal,” he tweeted), while Kate Hudson got out her crystal ball. “Projection update: Xanax and Beta Blocker stock has sky rocketed 22%,” she said.

Others, however, couldn’t hold back their sadness and anger, including Jessica Chastain (“The positive element from all this is that we can no longer pretend that we are free of racism & sexism. The question is, what do we do now?”), Rose McGowan (“As 52% of the population, there isn’t a place for me in Trump’s America”), John Cho (“Entering a depression I’ve not known before. It is deep and wide and scary”), Kunal Nayyar (“Never in fifteen years of living In this country have I ever felt afraid to look like I do”), Martha Plimpton (“We elected the favourite candidate of the KKK. Anything else anyone need to say right now?”) and Mark Ruffalo (“You know what we do now? We finish building what we started and we fight back! Lift your heads up brothers and sisters”).

Donald Trump does, however, have a small fist of social media support in Hollywood, with Kirstie Alley (“Congratulations President Trump! Against all odds…against the establishment…and even against most from the GOP. U did it!”) and Russia’s favourite son, Steven Seagal (“Congratulations @realDonaldTrump for your stunning victory over your opponent! Looking forward to making America great again!”), throwing their support behind the billionaire property developer turned politico. And Stephen Baldwin – a not-very-effective contestant on Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice whose brother, Alec, delivered the world’s funniest impersonation of the now Commander In Chief on Saturday Night Live – was another big supporter of The Donald. “Soon the REAL work begins…to #MakeAmericaGreatAgain! Proud to have been a part of such amazing history !!@realDonaldTrump,” he posted.

Surprisingly, the best appraisal probably came from Fast & Furious bad girl, Michelle Rodriguez, who best summed up the strange, otherworldly feeling of knowing that Donald J. Trump will, indeed, be the 45th President Of The United States Of America. “Wow, I guess the people have spoken, gotta respect that,” she posted. “Strap up, we’re going back in time, get the DeLorean ready. Wow, what a world.”

Kill this racist, homophobic ratbag before he sullies the White House, America and the rest of the world with his unworthy presence . Or after a few miserable months of Trump’s presidency, the idiots who believed his promises and elected this billionaire buffoon and self – avowed champion of downtrodden Americans surely will !
