After losing its original director – Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) – due to ‘creative differences’, this all-star Will Smith vehicle was handed over to David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada), and if the trailer is any indicator then this will be a rather painful viewing experience; or it could be this generation’s It’s a Wonderful Life… Written by Allan Loeb (um, Here Comes the Boom, Rock of Ages, Just Go With It, The Dilemma, So Undercover – how does this guy get work?!), the film also stars Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris, and tells the story of a grief-stricken advertising exec who starts talking to imaginary people? Is that right?? Or maybe they’re Thetans? Who can tell.
Collateral Beauty (what kind of a title is that?!) is in cinemas for Christmas in the US and will hit Australian screens in February 2017.
