In the Wake of Giants, a bold new Australian feature documentary, has launched its Kickstarter campaign following a high-profile teaser premiere on the screens of London’s Piccadilly Circus for a Sea & Space Earth Day takeover.

Told through the eyes of ocean advocate and storyteller Jono Allen, In the Wake of Giants explores the power and fragility of our blue planet. From Australia to Indonesia and Tonga, the film traces a deeply personal journey through some of the world’s most breathtaking – and vulnerable – marine regions, capturing the beauty of the ocean and the efforts underway to protect it.

Currently in pre-production, the film is being produced by a women-led team based in Sydney, working closely with marine scientists, local conservationists, and remote island communities. Featuring cinematic underwater footage and raw, vérité-style storytelling, In the Wake of Giants offers a rare and intimate view of the ocean and those fighting to defend it. “We’re not here to preach,” says producer Lisa Thomas. “We’re here to show that it’s still possible to protect what we love before it’s too late. This is a story about courage, connection, and the real people leading change.”

The Kickstarter campaign runs throughout May and offers exclusive backer rewards. These include original digital art, eco-conscious merchandise, and VIP credits in the film. The project has already received early backing from ocean advocates and storytelling partners including Oceanic Global, Ocean Culture Life, Documentary Australia, and Women Make Movies (US fiscal sponsor).
