Work on Season Two of Rosehaven Has (Unofficially) Begun

December 19, 2016
Not an announcement, per se - more of an allusion.

A second season of the ABC iview comedy series, Rosehaven, is in the works – if and when Aunty signs off on it.

That’s the word from co-creators Celia Pacquola and Luke McGregor, who were part of the television writing panel, The Writers’ Room, at the Sydney Opera House’s #Bingefest this weekend.

Alongside Please Like Me‘s Josh Thomas and acclaimed writer and podcaster, Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty), the pair were on hand to extemporise on the various challenges facing television writers today, in a free-wheeling discussion moderated by Gretel Killeen.

A range of topics and tangents were covered, including diversity in the industry and the death of the syndication model, but perhaps not on the agenda was the welcome news that Pacquola and McGregor are in the esrly stages of writing a second series of their popular show.

Set in rural Tasmania, Rosehaven sees McGregor’s put-upon Daniel returning home to take over his family’s real estate business, only to have his best friend, played by Pacquola, turn up at his door, having fled her marriage. The gentle comedy has earned rave reviews and garnered a loyal following, who will no doubt be glad to hear more trips to the sleepy Tasmanian village may be in the offing.

However, McGregor took pains to point out that a second season has yet to be commissioned, and he and Pacquola are just in the early stages of mapping out ideas for new episodes. Still, for fans this is certainly good news, assuming the ABC comes to the party.
