Transmission Films will exclusively handle theatrical distribution of Amazon Studios’ films in the Australia and New Zealand, it was announced today. The deal covers both original productions and projects acquired by Amazon.
Among the upcoming films included are Mike Leigh’s historical drama Peterloo and Tom Harper’s The Aeronauts, starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.

Their taste in quality, commercial cinema and respect for the theatrical window makes Amazon the perfect partner for us to build on our incredible success in 2017 and into the future. Combined with our ongoing relationship with See-Saw and New Regency, Transmission couldn’t be better positioned to take advantage of the changing distribution landscape,” Transmission Joint Managing Directors Richard Payten and Andrew Mackie said in a statement.
Following on from the recent critical success of Warwick Thornton’s Sweet Country, Transmission’s upcoming releases include Garth Davis’ Mary Magdalene, Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale, Justin Kurzel’s The True History of the Kelly Gang, and Richard Linklater’s Last Flag Flying.
