Despite the various controversies that have surrounded the release of Christopher Nolan’s mythological epic The Odyssey (it’s too “woke” etc), the potentially staggering scope of the film is undeniable. The cast is huge (Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson in arsehole mode, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliott Page, Mia Goth, Samantha Morton, James Remar, and, uh-oh, John Leguizamo), the set pieces appear breathtaking, and the sweep of the story (there’s still something funny about seeing the “Christopher Nolan, Homer” screenwriting credit on IMDB) is legendary. Perhaps wanting to lean more into its Gladiator elements than its Jason And The Argonauts ones, this latest trailer (like all the previous releases) pretty much hides the story’s more fantastical elements, like The Cyclops, The Sirens and The Laestrygonians. We await the potential wackiness with utter fascination…
