“Comedy TV in Australia is rapidly trending towards the safe and the stale. In making this program, we hope to revive Australia’s fading tradition of irreverent and risqué comedy,” according to Monkey Man‘s producer Joe Eidelson. So, he and his young fellow producers Tim Shaw and Spencer Hurley of Bamyasi Media, have shot the first episode of Monkey Man, with a view to raising funds for the rest of the show, and have released this trailer.

The show follows a has-been child performer (Fleet), in debt to a loanshark (Brendan Bacon), whilst he hallucinates about his alter ego Moo Moo the Monkey (voiced by character actor/film teacher John Flauss). The voice of Channel 9, Pete Smith, also pops up.
