Hey, is it Oscar season? The trailer for Behemoth! – the latest from writer/director Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, The Bourne Legacy, and apparently all the good stuff in Star Wars: Rogue One) – certainly creates an award-style aura around this punchy looking drama. This one has a bit of everything: a tortured musician tale (Pedro Pascal is a troubled classical cellist), a dysfunctional brothers riff (Wil Arnett is Pedro’s amusingly disheveled sibling), a behind the scenes Hollywood satire (the film’s initially bewildering title comes from the code name for a top secret movie that Pedro is performing the score for), a mentor movie (Pedro plays Yoda to Kaya Ralls’ young cellist), a sick parent bummer (the great JoBeth Williams -yay! – is Pedro’s ailing mum) and an Olivia-Wilde-yelling flick. Oh, and Matthew Lillard is in the house too. Phew…
