Well, it’s been quite a morning, hasn’t it? We’ve had the Blade Runner 2049 teaser, the John Wick Chapter 2 trailer, and now a look at T2 Trainspotting‘s main man, Mark “Rents” Renton.
One thing we can say is that Danny Boyle’s 20-years-on return to the mean streets of Leith is definitely pulling at least some elements from Porno, Irvine Welsh’s novel sequel of 2002, and not an easy title to Google. In both, our man Rents has booked off to Amsterdam after ripping off his mates at the climax of Trainspotting and has turned his life around. It’s not clear here, but in Porno he’s a nightclub promoter who has spent a great deal of time practicing karate in case he ever crosses paths with the psychotic Frank Begbie again – hopefully that’s a story element that makes the transition from page to screen.
T2 Trainspotting shoots into Australian cinemas on February 23.
