James McAvoy is to be commended for his unconventional choices, and his latest as the lead in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split looks to be most impressive. McAvoy plays a multiple personality disorder type with psycopathic tendencies (don’t they all in the movies?!) as he kidnaps three young woman, including Morgan‘s Anya Taylor-Joy, and plans to do god knows what with them. This looks like Shyamalan potentially steering clear of ‘the twist’ and focusing more on the terror, which is good to see as he’s an obviously talented filmmaker who was unfortunately typecast early in his career.
Split is scheduled to release on January 19, 2017
