Assistants vs Agents (AVA), the global community created by Warner Bailey for entertainment industry assistants, is partnering with Australian production company Undertow Content to reach their Australian-based community. The partnership will kick off with an industry happy hour event in Sydney on Wednesday, November 13 at 5:30pm.
Founded originally as an instagram meme account during Bailey’s time as an assistant, Assistants vs Agents has grown into a thriving international community of over that brings together assistants, coordinators, and emerging executives working across film, television, music, and live entertainment. The platform spotlights the real, unfiltered experiences of the people behind the scenes of Hollywood – from bizarre rider requests to unexpected celebrity encounters – while offering networking, support, and industry access to its members worldwide.
The partnership follows Bailey’s guest appearance on Undertow Content’s podcast CUT! earlier this year, which sparked a shared vision to expand opportunities for early-career entertainment professionals both in Australia and abroad.
“When you meet Warner, you get a sense of his authenticity immediately. What he has built comes from a true passion to bring people together in real life and create a supportive community,” says Undertow Co-Founder Amanda Browne. “Our industry development work at Undertow has the same mission; to create pathways, champion emerging talent, and connect Australia to the global screen ecosystem.
Founded by Australians Amanda Browne and Ashlee Russell, Undertow Content develops film, TV, and digital projects with global reach, alongside a growing slate of industry initiatives, including the podcast CUT!, the sold-out SXSW Sydney panel PITCH PLEASE, and recently launched consulting services for people looking for tailored support in the industry. Browne and Russell have also executive produced short films for up and coming talent including A Lovely Place (dir. Jessica Di Costa) and With Love, Lottie (dir. Lily Drummond), which have screened at festivals in Australia and internationally.
“The goal with AvA is simple: build the community I wish I had when I was just starting out in the Industry” says Warner Bailey, creator of AvA. “When we thought about the expansion of our events internationally, Australia, and Sydney specifically, came up time and time again. We’re so thrilled to be partnering with the amazing team at Undertow, who have been so supportive of our mission to empower and bring together the next generation of Entertainment IRL.”
The Assistants vs Agents Happy Hour will take place on Wednesday, November 13 at 5:30pm in Sydney. Attendance is free, but RSVP is essential.
