“Unknown Pleasures” is an attempt to throw some light on under-represented films and film-makers but, more than that, an attempt to foster a sense of community.

DREAMS FOR LIFE (2004, 76 mins, dir: Anna Kannava)
Q&A with Maria Mercedes (actress) & Aanya Whitehead (producer), moderated by Simon Wilmot (Deakin Uni)
The debut feature of the late Anna Kannava (1959 – 2011), Dreams for Life is an accomplished work about a woman in her late 30s (Maria Mercedes) recovering from trauma. Minimalist and everyday, the film is poetic and elegant, delving deep into its troubled but beautiful heroine, as she grapples with her past and is challenged by a surprising present, the appearance of a young man (Dai Paterson).
